  • Assessing your space, chimney (if applicable), and heating needs
  • Discussing stove and flue options that suit your home and style
  • Offering honest advice and personalised recommendations
  • Providing a detailed, easy-to-understand quote with no hidden costs

What services do you offer?

We provide a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Wood & Multi-Fuel Stove Installation
  • Flexible Flue Liner Installation
  • Twin Wall Flue System Installation
  • Wide Range of Stoves for Sale
  • Site Surveys
  • Chimney & Hearth Preparation

Can I install a stove without an existing chimney?

Yes, absolutely. We offer Twin Wall flue system installations — insulated flue pipes that can be routed internally or externally. They allow you to safely install a stove even if your property doesn’t have a traditional chimney.

Are your installations compliant with regulations?

Yes. We are HETAS-registered, which means all of our stove and flue installations meet the latest building regulations and safety standards. Once your stove is installed, we’ll certify it and notify your local authority on your behalf.

Do you supply stoves, or do I need to purchase one separately?

We supply a wide selection of stoves in various styles, sizes, and fuel types—from traditional to
contemporary. Whether you’re after an inset model or a freestanding centrepiece, we can help you find
the perfect fit for your space and budget.

Do you install customer-supplied stoves?

Yes—provided we inspect the appliance first to confirm suitability and compliance. We’ll check the data
plate, flue outlet size, and clearances before booking the install.

How much do your services cost?

Costs vary depending on the type of installation, materials needed, and any additional work. That’s why
we offer a site survey first—to tailor our recommendations and provide a quote that reflects your exact
requirements.

Do you offer services outside of Berkshire?

While we are based in Berkshire, we also serve the surrounding areas. Please get in touch with us to
discuss your location and requirements.

Do I need an air vent?

Many modern homes do. We’ll assess ventilation during the site survey and advise if a permanent vent is
needed to meet Building Regulations and the stove manufacturer’s requirements.

Can I use a 12 mm glass/slate hearth?

Yes—only if the stove is tested to keep the hearth below 100°C and it’s free-standing (not in a recess).
Stoves in a recess require a constructional hearth. We’ll advise the correct specification and size during the survey.

How can I book a service or consultation?

You can book a service or request a free site survey by:

  • Filling out the contact form on our website

How long does a stove installation usually take?

Straightforward installations typically take one day. If your chimney needs repairs or structural
adjustments, we’ll explain everything during the site survey and adjust the timeline as needed. We use
protective coverings, control dust and soot, and carry out a full clean-up.

What is the difference between a wood-burning and multi-fuel stove?

A wood-burning stove is specifically designed for burning logs only, while a multi-fuel stove can also burn approved smokeless fuels. We’ll help you choose the best option based on your heating needs, fuel availability, and location—especially if you live in a Smoke Control Area, where only certain fuels and
appliances are permitted.

What fuels should I use?

Use Ready to Burn logs (≤20% moisture) and, for multi-fuel stoves, only approved smokeless fuels.
Avoid slumbering for long periods and never burn treated wood or household waste.

Do you work in Smoke Control Areas?

Yes. We’ll recommend DEFRA-approved appliances and fuels and ensure your setup complies with local
requirements.

Do I need planning permission to install a stove?

In most cases, planning permission isn’t required for internal installations. If your home is listed or in a
conservation area, additional permissions may be needed—we’ll guide you through that if it applies.

How do I maintain my stove after installation?

We’ll show you how to operate and maintain your stove before we leave, including how to burn efficiently and clean safely. As professional chimney sweeps trained by the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, we also offer regular sweeping and aftercare to keep your stove running efficiently and safely.

How often should my chimney be swept?

At least once a year; twice a year is recommended for regular wood use (typically pre-season and post-
season). We’ll send reminders and issue sweep certificates.

What are the signs my chimney needs attention?

Smoke coming into the room, unpleasant odours, difficulty lighting fires, visible damage, or a heavy
buildup of soot can all indicate that your chimney needs maintenance or repair. If you’re experiencing any
of these issues, feel free to get in touch—we’re happy to help. You can call us on 07759 490030 or email
enquiries@fullhousechimneyservices.co.uk to book an inspection or get advice.

What kind of guarantee do you offer?

Our Full House Installation & Care Guarantee runs alongside manufacturer warranties on the stoves and
Poujoulat flue components we supply. When we supply, install and maintain your system with annual
sweeping, we’ll manage manufacturer warranty claims and stand by our workmanship. Full details are
provided in your quote.

Can you remove or upgrade my existing fireplace?

Yes, we can remove old or non-functioning fireplaces and install a modern, efficient stove in its place.
We’ll help you redesign the space and ensure the setup suits your home and heating needs.

What are your payment terms and deposits?

We typically take a 50% deposit to secure your installation date and order materials, with the balance due on completion. For some projects, such as Twin Wall flue systems, the deposit may be higher — up to 66%. Your quote will clearly outline the exact terms.

How do I prepare for your visit?

Please clear any personal items or furniture from around the fireplace or installation area. We’ll handle all
safety precautions, protective coverings, and a full clean-up after the job is complete.
