1) What this guarantee covers
When FHCS supplies and installs a Poujoulat chimney system (flexible liner or twinnwall) from the appliance outlet to the terminal using Poujoulat components throughout, we provide our Installation & Care Guarantee, which sits alongside Poujoulat’s own product guarantee. Stove/appliance warranties are provided by the stove manufacturer.
2) Guarantee periods
• Poujoulat product guarantee: 10 years on Therminox twinnwall systems and 10 years on Starflex flexible liners (covers product replacement in the event of a manufacturing defect).
Painted/powderncoated finishes have shorter, finishnonly cover (typically 2 years)
• FHCS workmanship guarantee: 2 years on our installation workmanship. If a workmanship defect arises within 2 years, we will put it right at no labour charge. Where access equipment is required (e.g.,scaffolding, cherry picker/MEWP) or additional making good is necessary beyond the chimney system, these direct access/ancillary costs are chargeable; we will advise and agree costs in advance.
3) Eligibility (to keep guarantees valid)
• FHCS must supply and install your Poujoulat chimney system.
• To maintain a system guarantee, the chimney run (from the stove/appliance outlet to the terminal) must use Poujoulat components throughout.
• We will register your installation to activate the Poujoulat guarantee and provide your documentation once payment is complete. Please retain your paperwork for your records.
4) Operation & fuels
• Burn only dry wood with moisture content £20% and/or approved smokeless fuels.
• Do not burn wet/treated timber, household waste, or household coal. Do not use chemical chimney cleaners.
• Avoid prolonged “slumbering” (running for long periods at very low air settings) as it encourages tar/condensates and can damage the system.
5) Sweeping & maintenance
• At least once per year: minimum sweeping frequency.
• Twice per year is recommended where wood is burned regularly (e.g., one sweep prenseason and one after peak use).
• Keep your sweeping certificates/records, as they may be requested for any claim.
6) What’s included / excluded
Included:
• Poujoulat product guarantee: replacement of Poujoulat components that fail due to manufacturing defect within the stated period (product only).
• FHCS workmanship guarantee: correction of proven workmanship defects within 2 years
Not included:
• Damage arising from misuse, overnfiring, incorrect fuels, chimney fire, chemical cleaners, storm/impact, building movement, or water ingress not caused by product defect.
• Systems that include non Poujoulat parts within the chimney run (from spigot to terminal) when claiming a system guarantee.
• Normal wear and tear of seals, ropes, and cosmetic finishes beyond the finish only period.
• External factors such as excessive draught, structural movement, or water ingress are not covered.
• Damage caused by chimney fires, installation by third parties, improper fuel use, or lack of maintenance will not be covered.
7) Making a claim
• Contact FHCS with the installation date, product details/diameters, appliance and fuels used, a description of the issue, and photographs (including the data/notice plate).
• We will inspect/diagnose. If a Poujoulat product defect is indicated, we will coordinate replacement with Poujoulat. If a workmanship defect is found within 2 years, we will schedule remedial work.
8) Activation
The FHCS Installation & Care Guarantee and Poujoulat registration are activated after full payment and
successful registration. Please keep all documentation and sweep certificates.
This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.
