Missed and cancelled appointment fee

In the event of us being unable to gain access to the property on the day of the appointment, we
reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee. Any appointment which is not cancelled 24
hours prior to the appointment time, will also be charged at the full sweeping fee.
Should any appliance or fireplace be in a condition which renders it unable to be swept on the
day of the appointment, we reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee.
We reserve the right to refuse to carry out the work upon arrival at the premises if the work
involved is for any reason unsafe or dangerous to perform, in accordance with the Health and
Safety at work Act 1974. In these circumstances a written report documenting the evidence will
be produced and if possible will suggest a remedy for the situation. We reserve the right to
charge the full sweeping fee.
We rely on you to tell us what we are sweeping – the price will be quoted based on that
information. If you have failed to tell us in advance of any problems, or that it is, for example a
fireplace that is larger than average, we reserve the right to re-quote on arrival. You may decline
to use the service at that point. We reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee.
In the event that we encounter a problem, for example a blockage or a flue problem, the sweep
will advise you in advance of any extra work that needs to be completed and any extra charges
to be made. If you decide you do not want the sweep to continue with the job, we reserve the
right to make a charge to cover our costs including a contribution towards work already
undertaken.

Emergency and Call out Fees

We will always endeavour to assist clients in an emergency.
Any request to attend in an emergency, will attract a call-out fee in addition to any sweeping
charges.
An emergency would include all non scheduled requests to undertake work at short notice/same
day.

Payment

Payment must be made on the day of the sweep or service. We accept cash, card payments,
bank transfers and cheques.
By booking and having us undertake work for you, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.
By requesting us to sweep for you, the person/party making the booking is responsible and
liable for payment in respect of the work undertaken.

Other charges

Any other charges incurred as a result of attending a client’s location will be chargeable in
addition to the work undertaken. This includes, parking, congestion, emission charges and tolls.

Before we sweep

Fires, wood burners and appliances to be swept must not be used within the 24 hours leading
up to an appointment. A space of at least 2 meters should be available at the front of the
appliance/fireplace. Furniture, tables and chairs should not be in the area required to work.
There should be nothing on top or to the sides of the work area.
We will require access to a mains power plug.

After we sweep

Any waste as a result of the sweeping and cleaning process will be left with the client in order to
be disposed of. The responsibility of compliant and appropriate disposal of waste will rest with
the client.

Additional information

We are not responsible for any damage which may occur as part of, or be associated with the
sweeping process. This includes, but is not limited to; stacks, chimney pots, liners, property and
persons.
We are fully insured to cover appropriate and vaild claims.
All fires, burners and flues must be serviceable and in good working order at the time we sweep.
The client is responsible for the correct cowl or terminal being secured and correctly placed at
the top of any flue, which is contracted for sweeping.
It is also the client’s responsibility to ensure any installation complies with the appropriate
industry standards. If you are unsure of these standards, please ask and we will supply you with
further information.
We are not under any circumstances responsible for the installation of your stove/appliance or
opening. In the event any issues or observations in respect of your stove/appliance or opening,
we will point these out to you once the sweeping process has finished.
Gas Fires – Some gas fires require disconnection before a flue which serves a gas appliance
can be swept. This must be undertaken by a Gas Safe registered engineer and is to be
arranged by the customer at their own cost.
Agas and Rayburns must be switched off 24 hours before the sweep attends. Aga servicing and
re-lighting is offered by our trained engineer.
Your insurance company may require a Certificate of Chimney Sweeping. We provide a
certificate for every chimney we attend. We will email a copy to the customer or provide a paper
copy if required. Details are also recorded on file if the customer requires them.
The certificate is not a warranty or guarantee that your chimney is safe to use unless a full visual
inspection (CCTV or other) has been made and soundness or integrity testing has been carried
out. These are separate tasks that can be performed if any problems or concerns are

highlighted by our customer or by the sweep. The certificate is confirmation however that we
have passed a brush or appropriate device through the flue and removed as much soot and/or
debris as we are able.

LANDLORDS: If you are booking a sweep for your rental property, we will not be responsible for
comunicating with the tenant. Please ensure the occupants are aware when we will be attending
the property. We reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee if the customer misses the
appointment.
There will be charge of £15 per 15mins of driving if key collection is required.
